Livery Committee

The LLivery Committee Logoivery Committee exists to promote and encourage a wider breadth of cultural and social events to members of the Livery and to complement the Company’s more formal Court Dinners.

The committee was established in 1974 by Master John Colin Gray. The Committee consists of nine members of the Livery, with the Master and Clerk of the Company as ex-officio members. The principal officers of the Livery Committee include the Chairman, the Hon. Secretary and Treasurer.

The Committee contributes greatly to the wider life of the Company by providing further opportunities to form friendships and to affirm the shared values of fellow Fan Makers. In more recent times visits have been made to the:

• Globe Theatre
• Shuttleworth Air Museum
• Magic Circle
• HM Tower of London
• Westminster School
• Buckingham Palace
• Mansion House
• Houses of Parliament
• Dennis Severs’ House
• guided tours linked to the history of Fan Making
• College of Arms
• Fan Museum in Greenwich with lunch and tea,
• Kew Palace and Gardens,
• historic London with lunch guided by our Beadle Ted Hall
• Clarence House
• St George’s Chapel Windsor Castle for Evensong
• Old Bailey
• Smith’s Lawn for a day of Polo with lunch

Membership of the Committee is by election and is open to all members of the Company with the exception of the Court of Assistants. The period of tenure is ordinarily for five years. Expressions of interest in contributing to the work of this Committee would be warmly received and should be addressed to the Chairman of the Livery Committee in the first instance.
