2009 Donations
Final grants for the year 2009 from the Company's charitable funds have been made to a wide range of charities including Whitechapel Gallery, Outreach, Treloar Trust, The Bridge School, Thrive, Headway East London, The Sick Children's Trust, The Soup Kitchen, Tower Hamlets Mission, St. Giles' Trust, Emmaus South Lambeth, Children's Country Holidays, Hackney Quest, The Kiloran Trust, Providence Row, Sheriffs' and Recorders' Fund, Pitch Perfect, and St. Paul's Charitable Trust.
The funds have also been used to support, as usual, the Company's educational objectives. At post-graduate level, outstanding students in fan engineering, aeronautics, aerospace, and environmental diagnostics have received prizes, financial assistance and Honorary Freedoms.
At graduate level, bursaries have been given to students at Southbank University as part of their training under the auspices of The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.
Additionally, support has been given to companies trying to achieve low carbon performance and sustainability under the City of London's award scheme, a section of which is judged by Company representatives.
At secondary level, awards are given to deserving pupils at the City Academy in Southwark. At primary level, support is given to the Lansbury Lawrence School.
These endeavours were reflected in the design and use of our float in the 2009 Lord Mayor's Show.
Income from a restricted fund is used to help support and maintain The Fan Museum in Greenwich.
