The 2008 Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition Report
The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers entered three teams for the 15th Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition. The event was held on Wednesday 21st May with 390 ‘guns’ (97 teams), including 16 ladies, representing 54 different City Livery Companies raising a total in excess of £5,000 for various charities.
On a warm late Spring day each of our teams gave a good account of themselves posting the following scores: Fan Makers ‘A’ (289 points), Fan Makers ‘B’ (270 points) and Fan Makers ‘C’ (203 points). The highest scoring member of a Fan Maker team was Shirley Payne (wife of Liveryman Paul Payne) with 57 points (out of a possible 80), which placed her an outstanding 15th equal overall.
As the highest placed Liveryman with 56 points, John Naylor (pictured with trophy) was presented with the ‘The Bodin Cup’.
Chris and Sandra Parr, liverymen of The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, have to be congratulated for their superb organisation of this competitive but also most sociable event. The shooting was, as always, of a high standard and we were blessed with excellent weather. At the end of a thoroughly enjoyable day’s shooting the competitors retired to the marquee for a well-earned buffet and the prize giving.
Those representing The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers at the 2008 competition were: Jeffrey Bines, Michael O’Shea, Paul Payne, Shirley Payne (guest) (all ‘A’ Team), Peter Dove, John Hughes, Mike Lakin, John Naylor (all ‘B’ Team), Kelly Palmer (guest), Phoebus Theologites, Johnathan Ramsey (guest), Mark Taylor (all ‘C’ Team).
