FAN MAKERS' GOLFING SOCIETY - SEPTEMBER 2009

The weather was exceptionally kind to us this year, and not a drop of rain fell.  Alan Willis’ steady play in the morning could not be beaten so he came away with the President’s Cup. Alan, having played well at Swinley, also won the Geoffrey Woods Cup for the best combined score between Spring and Autumn meetings. David Spackman was a worthy winner of the Eric Mayer Cup for handicaps over 18.

Lunch hospitality at New Zealand GC can severely undermine anyone’s level of concentration, especially when coping with the severe heather during the afternoon round, so it looked like a very open competition for the Voules Cup for the best foursomes pair in the afternoon. In the event Patrick King and Doug Clasby swept through the field to win.

A brief AGM was held at which we all agreed that we had had a lot of fun and that more golfers should join us in enjoying what New Zealand and the other courses we play have to offer

Antony Robson was elected as Captain for a further year and several members purchased the new umbrellas!
