HMS Glasgow is to be a state-of-the-art Type 26 anti-submarine frigate and will be the 9th vessel to carry this name. She will have an association with several City Livery Companies. To mark this, the Fan Makers and the Merchant Taylors commissioned a brooch, which was presented to the Princess of Wales at the naming ceremony.Rear Admiral Hoddinott commanded HMS Glasgow during the Falklands, when it was hit by a 1,000-ton bomb dropped by an Argentinian airplane; the bomb passed through the ship without exploding.
