The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers hosted an online presentation and discussion given by Mr Andrew Kent, OBE, Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. He is also vice-chair of the Faculty of Remote, Rural & Humanitarian Healthcare at the Royal College of Surgeons - Edinburgh and a Trustee of Life and Limb / the Primary Trauma Care Foundation.

As a retired Lt. Colonel, RAMC, his vast experience in the field of trauma care has taken him to many under resourced countries around the globe and he spoke about his recent volunteering in Ukraine and Gaza.

In giving back, he told us that he has also benefited from learning many things including humility and motivation. Sadly, he told us that modern warfare doesn't spare humanitarian aid and that armed escorts and regular targeting of main routes for transporting the severely injured are common. It was a very humbling moment.

Sincere thanks to Mr Kent for taking the time to answer so many questions afterwards. The Master, Dinesh Naidu, gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the Company.
